We get this question a lot, which is completely understandable! When I first stumbled upon this wonderful organization, I had the same question. We understand that we have a lot to offer, but our menu can be overwhelming. To help guide you towards the best decision, here are a few questions to start with:
1.) What do I want to write?
If you know the answer to the question above, you can search our workshops by GENRE, which gives a breakdown of the following options:
2.) Which level are you?
This is just a sample of the types of writers who join our groups. We’re not kidding when we say we have something for everyone who wants to take a creative writing workshop. Similar to genre, you can search our workshop page by Levels, and you’ll find the following options:
If you’re brand new or studied English in college, we recommend a beginner workshop. If you’ve taken a workshop at some point over the past few years, and you’ve been writing on and off for years, an intermediate workshops would be a good choice. Our Advanced Classes require instructor approval. For these workshops, you will submit pages for the instructors to review and decide if you’d be a good fit. The other requirement for these upper levels is some workshop experience.
3.) If you’re confident that you know what you want to write and of your level, you can also search our workshop page by Instructor or Day of the Week .

4.) If you aren’t ready to commit to a series of five, six, or seven consecutive weeks, you can also check out our Special Events and One-Day offerings to get a sense of our instructors.
Remember how I said earlier that I wasn’t sure which class was right for me when I joined WWW? Even though I knew what I wanted to write and what my level was, I still wanted to talk to someone on the phone to ensure I was making the right decision. I called the office and spoke with a very nice person who was happy to help me. So please give us a call at 203-227-3250 or shoot us an email at exec@westportwriters.org, and we will help place you!
