Join an encouraging, positive workshop environment to make progress on your genre fiction project. Genre fiction includes mystery, thriller, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, speculative fiction, magical realism, romance, women’s fiction, book club fiction, commercial fiction, young adult and any combination of the above. We will read aloud in class up to 1,000 words of our works-in-progress for positive feedback. Discussion of craft topics pertinent to genre fiction such as reader expectations, tropes, and plot structure will be sprinkled in, as well as information about how to position your project in the marketplace.
This class is ideal for people who:
- Are intermediate and advanced writers looking to make progress on or begin a genre fiction novel, novella, or short story.
- Are interested in learning about publication paths for genre fiction.
