Seven Monday Sessions
6 – 8 PM EST
Dates: 4/6 – 6/1 (OFF 4/13 & 5/25)
Here’s a secret: the #1 cure for writer’s block is reading. If we read often and widely enough, we’re bound to encounter something new, strange, sparkling, incandescent—or simply straightforward and true. There’s no better way to remind ourselves why writing matters, and why we should get back to our desks.
In this class, we’ll look to some of the world’s best writers (both classic and contemporary) to deepen our knowledge of the art and craft of writing. Each week, we’ll discuss a short story, novel excerpt, or essay, and follow it up with a writing prompt inspired by what we read.
If you join us, you can expect to:
- Read 10-25 pages per week outside of class
- Engage in rich, dynamic discussions of assigned reading
- Complete in-class writing exercises
- Share your writing aloud in a warm and supportive environment
