Five Thursday Sessions
10:00-12:00pm EST
Dates: 11/12 – 12/17 (OFF 11/26)
This workshop is geared towards writers who have taken at least one or two Flash Fiction or Flash Nonfiction workshops or a few sessions of Just Write. With the basics of writing flash already established, we’ll pay close attention to pacing, metaphor & imagery, dialogue/interiority endings, and how to use poetic techniques in our prose. We will also explore prose poems, micros and hermit crab fiction/nonfiction. Each week writers will share 1,000 words or less for feedback and if time permits, write to prompts during class. Prompts will always be provided for inspiration in between sessions.
Students can expect to:
- Have at least five pieces workshopped.
- Engage in close readings of well-known and more obscure flash writers
- Experiment with different genres and forms
- Learn how to research and submit to literary journals and contests
