Generative Micro Retreat
Even if you can’t slip away for days at a time, dedicating an extended, uninterrupted stretch to your writing can be deeply rewarding. Writers at every stage benefit from the clarity and creative renewal that focused time on their craft provides. This one-day retreat at the Westport Writers’ Workshop location in Westport will bring writers of all genres together to generate new work, give and receive feedback, and devote a day, free of distractions, to the writing life. You’re welcome to bring work-in-progress or come to start something new. Please bring a bag lunch and something to write with (laptop or paper both work). Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
Each participant will receive
- craft-focused prompts to generate new work (for instance with a focus on setting, character, voice, etc.)
- prompts to guide revision
- feedback from WWW Executive Director Amanda Parrish Morgan and other retreat participants
- guidance on next steps
- a list of resources for writers looking for inspiration, accountability, and community

Amanda Parrish Morgan
Amanda Parrish Morgan is the author of STROLLER (Bloomsbury 2022), of which The New Yorker wrote “the central strength of the book is not comprehensiveness but the way the stroller, and Morgan’s experience of her own strollering years, become an omnidirectional magnet, pulling disparate material into friendly proximity.” Amanda’s writing has appeared in The Rumpus, LitHub, Guernica, The Millions, n+1, Electric Literature, Carve, The American Scholar, The Ploughshares Blog, JSTOR Daily, The Washington Post, Real Simple, Women’s Running and ESPNW.
