It’s one of the most important decisions a writer can make—and one of the most daunting: choosing a point-of-view. How do you decide between first-person, second person, third-person, or omniscient? Is it more than a matter of preference? Yes! In this class, you’ll discover a whole new way of analyzing point of view—one that’s focused on the author’s relationship with the reader. Through craft discussions, examples, and short free writes, you’ll explore the effects of different points of view and leave with practical steps for assessing which one best suits your intentions for your story.

In this workshop you can expect:

  • Guidelines for zeroing in on the best point-of-view for your story.
  • Prompts to help you test out your choices.
  • Discussions of published works that serve as helpful examples.
  • Multiple opportunities to share your in-class writing for constructive feedback.
