Coaching, Editing & Mentoring, Oh My!

Editing

While we pride ourselves on our wonderful and plentiful workshops here at Westport Writers’ Workshop, some writers come to us looking to work with an instructor one-on-one. Our goal is to help writers reach their goals at all stages of the writing process, and we offer a variety of services, including:

  • Query Letter Critique
  • Manuscript Critique
  • Manuscript Copyedit
  • Social Media Consult
  • Two on One: Getting the feedback you need on your Screenplay, Play, or Novel
  • Group Sessions

Coaching

If you’re not in the middle or the end of a project, but rather either just starting out or stuck at a certain point in your writing, you might choose to hire one of our instructors as a coach. In this scenario, you will meet either in person or remotely on an hour-by-hour basis and we will help you troubleshoot, and provide guidance and additional resources tailored to your particular needs.

Mentoring

Finally, if you interested in really honing in on the craft of writing, our Mentoring program is an excellent option. This innovative, one-on-one program combines personalized instruction in the craft and art of writing with inspiration toward your project and overall writing goals. Based on the mentoring segment of the MFA in creative writing, the program provides support for your project and you as a writer from a writing professional who understands writing in your area of interest, publishing and the writing life. We currently offer mentoring programs:

  • Mentoring on the Craft of the Novel Or Memoir
  • Creative Nonfiction
  • Long Form Fiction – All Levels
  • Long Form Fiction – Advanced
  • Poetry
  • Flash Fiction
  • Submitting Essays & Short Stories/Publishing Mentoring

Next Steps

If you’re interested in any of the services mentioned above, reach out to us here, and we can point you in the right direction, set up a consult with one of our instructors, and get you started! If it’s workshops you want, we provide those too for community and accountability! Click here to learn more.
