Adaptation 101

6 Mondays 11:00-1:00pm (1/27, 2/3, 2/10, off, 2/24, 3/3, 3/10)

 

You’ve written a novel or a short story and feel in your gut it’s really cinematic. If you’d love to adapt your material (or someone else’s that you have the rights to) into a feature-length screenplay or an episodic TV series but don’t know where to start, this workshop is for you. 

In this six-week class, we will delve into the adaptation development process that will enable you to look at your material from a wider lens to determine the best scripted format. Throughout the course, you will learn about the craft of screenwriting and how to navigate your project through the process with weekly assignments that will guide you from concept to a potential outline. Additional topics include: best research practices, story structure, character development, dialogue, tone, pacing, and more.
