Seven Tuesday Sessions
7:00-9:00 PM EST
Dates: 4/7 – 5/26 (OFF 4/14)
The question of “whodunnit?” lies at the heart of every murder mystery, but there are plenty of
other questions a writer must confront to craft a successful mystery novel/short story. In this
workshop, writers will share pages from a work in progress and receive constructive feedback on
key elements of murder mystery fiction, including plot, pacing, setting, character, and dialogue.
Along the way, we will examine excerpts from both current bestsellers and classics of the genre
to inspire our own work.
In this workshop, you can expect:
- A supportive environment to hone your mystery, suspense, or thriller novel/story
- Suggestions for how to unlock and incorporate your own writer’s voice in your novel/story
- Exposure to the conventions of the genre, including specific tips and techniques you can apply to your manuscript
This workshop is ideal for:
- Beginner, intermediate, and advanced writers who have begun working on a novel/story in the genre
- Writers seeking a spark of inspiration and a supportive community
- Fans of murder mysteries who are interested in exploring what makes the genre so compelling
