Sips & Scholarships Wine Tasting Fundraiser

Join the Westport Writers’ Workshop on September 18th from 6:30-9 PM at the Fairfield Museum for “Sips & Scholarships”, a fundraiser and silent auction to benefit our outreach programming. As part of our mission, Westport Writers’ Workshop is committed to providing scholarships and free writing workshops to underserved communities. We have completed and planned workshops with Connecticut Institute for Immigrants and Refugees, Homes with Hope, STAR, Center for Family Justice/AWARE, and the Bigelow Center for Senior Activities. Additionally, we offer a free workshop for moms of children with disabilities and a veterans’ writing group.

Help us celebrate these amazing communities! We’ll have light bites and literary-themed tasting tables. Harry’s Wine & Liquor Market is generously curating and providing our wine tastings as well as offering WWW 10% of all wine sales made that night, so it’s the perfect opportunity to stock up for fall and holiday hosting!

evening with Taffy Brodesser-Akner

Join us for a special literary evening with critically acclaimed journalist, author, and screenwriter Taffy Brodesser-Akner on November 13th at the SHUCT in Fairfield.

Brodesser-Akner is a celebrated staff writer for The New York Times Magazine, where her celebrity profiles have earned wide acclaim and viral attention. Her debut novel, Fleishman Is in Trouble, was a New York Times bestseller and a finalist for the National Book Award. The TV adaptation (FX/Hulu), which she also wrote and executive produced, was nominated for several awards, including a Critics’ Choice Award. Her latest novel, Long Island Compromise, continues her signature blend of comic brilliance, emotional depth, and family dynamics and has been named a Best Book of the Year by The New York Times, The New Yorker, Newsweek, and more.

The evening will explore Brodesser-Akner’s diverse career, including her experience adapting Fleishman Is in Trouble for television (she adapted seven of the eight episodes herself), and examine how her unique storytelling “perch” offers fresh insight into modern relationships, ambition, and identity.
