Romance is one of the most popular and diverse genres in publishing.

This class will introduce you to fundamental concepts of writing romance, whether you are writing a romance novel with a happily ever after, women's fiction, or commercial fiction with romantic elements. We’ll discuss tropes, conflict, backstory, writing intimacy and sex scenes, and how to reach an emotionally satisfying resolution for the characters involved in your romantic arc.

Bring your in-progress fiction manuscript or start a new project. Students are welcome to share up to 1,000 words per week of their fiction for positive feedback in a supportive setting, though sharing your work is not required.
