Are you in the middle of writing a book? Are you procrastinating, avoiding your manuscript, or editing what you have already written instead of forging ahead? Are you afraid you will never finish? Whether you know what your ending will be, or you are still trying to dream it up, this workshop will help you get you to an endpoint. Each week, you will decide on a writing goal—a number of words, a brainstorm, an epilogue, a whole chapter or possibly more. Nothing you write has to be brilliant-—it just has to get done.

In this class, you can expect:

  • Celebration! Every inch of progress deserves applause.
  • Help with writers’ block, obstacles, fear, and frustration.
  • Advice about schedules and deadlines, but also about rituals, circadian rhythms, inspiring workspaces, and support snacks.
  • Mini lessons on the craft of endings: structure, plot points, resolution.
  • Tips from successful authors who managed to finish their books.
  • In-class time for reading and critique (not required)
  • The ending of your book.

Optional: Want an extra hour of one-on-one attention?
Cara will provide written feedback on either part of a manuscript OR to help advise with the submission process for a total of an extra hour of consultation time. Please choose this option in the drop-down menu when purchasing this workshop. This extra time will be scheduled directly with the instructor.
