In this class, we will run over the basic elements of what makes a good screenplay. We will be examining the differences between writing for film, episodic, and play while providing room for writing exercises and open forum questions on craft or story. You may submit pages ahead of class for personal critique or table reads, with writers of all skill levels encouraged to join! No idea is too big, no story is too small!

Students can expect:

  • A complete draft of a script!
  • An understanding of the basics for crafting film, TV, and play scripts!
  • An awesome community of fellow writers to connect with!
  • Time to talk critically and supportively about each other’s material!
  • Mentor texts that are not only engaging, but help with learning the importance of craft!

Jordan BonnABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Jordan Bonn was raised his whole life in Westport. He is a recent graduate of NYU's Masters of Dramatic Writing Program, overseeing playwriting and drama courses as he gained a strong understanding of dramatic structure for TV and Film. After studying the art of screenwriting for over six years, he has been commissioned for TV Pilots and webseries alike due to his focus on comedic banter in his dialogue, explosive action set pieces, and characters both fantastical and grounded. When not focused on writing for the silver screen, Jordan focuses his efforts on the sequential arts working with artists in comics anthologies, as well as video essays on his YouTube Channel THE LOG, which has over 2 million channel views.
